A lady gave my DD this plant today at a nursery and she called it October Daisy, said it took full sun an got about 5' tall, bushy an will not bloom til October. When it does bloom it will have like 3' yellow daisy like blooms. The leaves remind me of brugmansia (sp) leaves only smaller. The plant is only a start so not much to it right now. I can't find anything online about it.

The first thing that comes to my mind is a Chrysanthemum Trudy. Do you have a photo?

The Helianthus Angustifolius sounds and looks more like the description you were given. It is also called narrow-leaved sunflower, swamp sunflower and October Daisy.

Many, many flowers carry locally known names given them to describe their look or in this case blooming time and looks. It may or may not have anything to do with the real name and that makes searching for them difficult.
Daisies, Asters and Sunflowers are all in the same family and since there are so many species of each one they do often resemble each other and that causes even more confusion.

Toni beat me to it! I "googled" October Daisy and came up with Helianthus Angustifolius too Trudy.

Thanks Toni, maybe thats it. I've seen a swamp sunflower b4 here in others garden an either its because the one given to DD is another species they don't really look the same going by the leave structure. The ones I've seen around here the leaves were much more narrow. Then again it may be cuz this start is still so young. Guess time will tell. Thanks for the info an the link, at least I have something to go on now.
