I had planted Canna lilies last year in a barrel and got great display last summer. I didn't cut off the leaves till they were dry/brown. But as of now, I don't see anything coming up yet. Is it too late for them to come back this year? I just don't see any growth yet.

Tina, did you plant Calla Lilies or Canna's...different plants completely.
If yours are Canna's it is probably a little early in your area to see much growth yet. Mine are only about 6-10 inches tall and we have been having mostly 70-80 degree high temps for the last 3 weeks.

Make sure the barrel is where it will get full sun, water when the soil is dry. Canna's require lots of sun and heat before sending up new growth.

Gently dig down at the edge of the pot to find a one and see if it is still in good shape. If they look okay, I would give them more time.

What are your nighttime temps like? It may still be too cool for a couple of days of upper 80's to keep the soil consistently warm.

Yes, dig down along the side and check for new roots. You can also gently pull the soil back and check for fleshy eyes.

Cannas are tropicals and require heat. they also need lots of water to really perform.

Since they are in a container, once they start to grow, feed them as all the nutrients leach out of containers as you water.
