About 3:30 this morning some horrible storms moved in on us. Our power went out and lots of heavy rain for about an hour before the storm moved away leaving complete silence.
When we went out this morning we had gotten 1.5 inches of rain and a little wind damage. Nothing like just a few blocks from us tho and several places all around us, lots of trees either pulled up out of the ground or huge limbs broken off. Roofs of buildings laying in neighboring yards. Power poles laying on the streets and traffic light poles bent in weird shapes. The small local airport had lots of damage to small airplanes and some of the large hangers. A friend of Randy's who lives less than a mile north of us heard the perverbial 'freight train' sound of a tornado as it passed over their house.
There is some speculation that at least two F-zero size tornados played hop-scotch in our area and more in other parts of north Texas. Not counting the damage done way north of here late yesterday afternoon.

Our power came back on about 10:30 this morning, much sooner than I expected considering how many homes and businesses were affected.

Luckily this is all the damage my yard got.
My bloomhouse collapsed in on itself from the weight of the rainwater. But it is a pop-up so once Randy could get inside, he pushed up on the center top and popped it right back up.

We also had to reset the awning over the patio, then spent much of the early morning sitting out there since the inside of the house was hot and stuffy

So glad you're okay and there was no damage to the house Toni! Sorry about your bloom house and awning, you just got that patio all nice! I'm hoping hard that the bad weather ends soon over there, worries me about y'all quite a bit.

'Our' storm is in Arkansas now probably causing more problems there than it did here.
The sun is out, the sky is almost completely cloudless and it will be warming up to the lower 80's this afternoon with a strong wind from the south.

Glendann, from the radar it looks like you are getting the tail end of the storms as they move towards Lousiana. Glad it is just rain for you.

Wow! That was some storm! I'm glad you and your family are okay. It's so awful that some people really lose everything! I'm glad you're back.

Ouch your poor patio area Toni, after you had just got it set up all nice and pretty. Glad you and Randy are not hurt or suffered any real damage to property.

Good grief Toni!
The forces of nature remain a force to be reckoned with, don't they? I know that you are counting your lucky stars.
It's a relief to see and hear that it wasn't any worse for you folks than what you described.
I liked that collapsable bloomhouse. That looks like just the thing to have in a place where the weather goes all nasty from time to time.
Thanks for the fotos...BTW, is there any news on Dorothy and Toto? Wink

Holy smokes Toni! So glad you are all OK.
If I woke up to a storm like that at 3:30 in the morning I would definitely panic!

OMG, Toni... I didn't realize the storms were that far south. I get the Dallas stations and was watching PD on Ch 8 and it looked like the storms were going in more of a north easterly direction from the metroplex. So glad you and your family are OK. I saw some of the footage this afternoon of the devastation and carnage. Hope you didn't get too much damage to your beautiful yard. Wink
