Hi all,
I was wondering if some more experienced folk could give me some advice here. Do bell pepper seeds normally take a very long time to germinate? This is day 15 with no trace. My other vegetable sprouts are coming along nicely - all planted on the same day and receiving the same plant food, water, and Phoenix sun.
When is it time to give my peppers up for dead?

Thanks in advance!

Hi pectacon,,nice to meet you!

okay lets see,, i'm no expert but i do grow peppers. My seeds took about a week to 10 days to grow. I never ever ever use plant food or fertalizers of any kind until i transplant a seedling. then i even wait a week or so. I also just lay my seeds ontop of the soil so i can watch them closely. I don't bury them so to speak. Keep the soil very warm, water when getting dry, no fertalizers yet, and keep them covered with something to make an incubater. if you do that you don't need to water, just the first time, because the humidity in there creates the right moisture needed to sprout. lots of sunlight is needed so that is right on.

Saying all that, i can tell you from experience that peppers are slow to grow. but once they take off, they develope very fast.

good luck with your peppers, and hopefully someone else will come by with better info.

My bell peppers have not sprouted either! I planted them March 4 Then again 4 weeks ago, thought the first batch of seeds might not have been good. My hot pepers are up & going as are tomatoes, 4 varieties and various flowers. All in the same starter soil, in bottle/greenhouses, in the same window.

Mine haven't either. I'm starting to think maybe my seeds are old. I'm gonna try a new pack and see what happens.
