Whilst working in the garden today I spotted these little critters finally out enjoying the sun.

Do you really think they are newts Eileen? I wondered that when I first saw the close up and we googled images of frogspawn and newt spawn but still couldn't decide. We do have newts in our pond so they could well be. Mark thinks we should take them out and put them in a tank, I say no, leave them where they are to mother nature.

They are definately newts EJ as they have feathered gills which neither frogs nor toads have. That's why I'm soooo jealous. I would dearly love to have newts in my pond. Pity we don't live near one another 'cause then maybe you'd let me pinch a few from you. Wink

How cool. I'd love to see you post pics of them in progress from time to time so we could all watch them grow. Thanks for sharing.

Lucky you. I know there are newts here in Wisconsin (according to the DNR website) but I've never seen one. I'm happy to have frogs in my pond every year and enjoy their antics and bug catching abilities!
