I stared and stared at that feeder, wondering where the bird was, and suddenly I noticed the fat, furry "bird" below. They're cute!

The coons are starting to come out of hibernation here and I've seen a few dead on our area roads. My dogs keep them out of my immediate yard, but there are plenty around us. Not far away, a friend of mine has had black bears eating at her feeders (or should I say, eating her feeders!).

SOJ, yes they are usually out at night. I have spot lights at the back corners of my house that have motion sensors on them. Once everyone is at home, I have to turn them off. The coons get out there and dance and keep the lights on all night!

Great piccie CK. It's the first 'wild' racoon I've seen as I've only ever watched them in zoos or on TV. Thanks for sharing yours with us.

Haha. I was thinking you maybe had a blue grosbeak since they are passing through here. Instead, a furry varmint! They are very cute though I like them to keep on walking here. Smile

They can be cute, but very destructive if they don't get their share of food! I still like to watch them. They use to trip my outside lights as well. I would get up only to see them waddling off and climbing over the back fence!

When we lived at our last home we had some things start missing in our backyard...Our birdfeeders for one...we never did find them on the 3 acres...one night I couldn't sleep and looked out when I heard a noise and we had 3 young raccoons hanging on the feeders.
