The American Goldfinch are beautiful now...moulting is done.
The female, even though she is dull colored is still a pretty little bird...

They're such showy little birds with the yellow breast, wish we had something like that.

What a good set of fotos, and what a beautiful bird.
Will these lovely birdies stay with you all summer, or will they migrate further north?
You must sit right ion the middle of a bird gathering path or location. You always have such good avian fotos.

We have them here too. They stay year around, but the males turn to the dull coloring in the fall and winter. We had one on the rail of the front porch about a week ago, but he took off before I could get a pic of him. Here we call them wild canarys.

sjoerd...the american goldfinches stay all year here. The males are pale in the winter and then brighten up in the spring with a brighter yellow...They make the sweetest little sound...

I just went to the feed mill and bought a supply of thistle seed for the little guys. I also put out my hummingbird feeder for the first time today (they're usually back here around mid-April). Yeah!
