I went to see a friend today. She loves evergreens, and started out planting fir, pines, thuja, cypress and - believe it or not - a redwood. Then she realized that she'd never have room for all the big ones she wanted, and started collecting mini conifers instead. Here's a sample from her garden:

Can't resist some spring colour. Laughing

Scilla:

Erythronium sibirica:

Hellebores:

You should see all her little japanese maples! They haven't started leafing out yet, so you'll have to wait.

What a lovely garden! Evergreens provide such great year round structure and colour and are a lovely backdrop to flowering shrubs and perennials.

What good fotos. That lady has one fancy garden! She has it laid-out quite nicely, doesn't she? Such delicate attention to the dwarf varieties...and the rock bed sidings...quite nice indeed.
I especially liked that purple erythronium that you showed in the "colour segment". Smile
You really should take more pics, Droopy. You are good at it.

How lovely. Very restful having all that green without much color. She has done a fantastic job creating her garden.

Who'd have thought that different shades of green could look so good!! I can't wait to see her maples in leaf as they're one of my favourite trees. Oh to have such a neat and tidy garden.

Thanks all. With the snowless winters we've had lately, evergreens is a good thing. At least there's something to look at out there. Laughing There will be lots of colour in there later, but it's a wee bit too early for that at the moment.

Looks like a perfect setting for a fairy garden with all those miniatures. I like the splashes of color throughout.

I will let her know how much you all like it, thank you. Yes, she spends all her time in that garden, hauling a bit here and moving a bit there, adding to it every year.
