It has thorns on it so I'm guessing it's some type of rose bush. I know nothing of roses, so is there any way to tell what I have here, and how do I care for it?

You're correct, it's a rose bush. I can't identify roses even with blooms, unless it's one I've got here, but I'm certain somebody else can.

I agree it is a rose bush, this time of year I would add some compost or composted manure around the root zone. Prune out any dead canes an wait to enjoy its spring flush of blooms. As far a what rose it is I have no idea. Like Droopy unless its one I have or just happen to know its someone elses guess.

It looks like a Rose to me too Teresa and it looks like it's doing very well. Maybe once it blooms someone will be able to identify it.
