Smile Sold some bees wax so have been melting that down to pour into 1 pound blocks and five pound blocks.
Smile Really warm weather has came for a visit so we inspected the bee yards.
Crying or Very sad four colonies at home didn't make it threw the winter. Only reason I see so far is the queen had started laying and the girls refused to leave the brood and ran out of food. There was lots of food remaining in all the dead outs.
Smile Smile On the good side all others (12) are alive and were flying about today. We have one remaining colony some miles away I haven't visited yet.
We are also sanding & scorching old hive bodies and getting them ready to stain then put the new familys in them. Have build a couple hunred frames but still need to place the wax foundation in them and roll the support wire in.

Shocked I personally don't care for the new site design. I hate having huge numbers over lapping words as well as the words from the top line running into the bottom line. But I read enough of everyone elses post to relize it won't change any time soon.

Very Happy Al

Sorry to hear about the colonies that didn't make it through Al. Still 12 is still substantial Very Happy

In a funny way it is nice to hear that not everybody loves the new design. AL, where do you see the huge numbers overlapping the words. Is it in the site information numbers at the top?

Do you mean the signature looks like it is part of the message Al? I can do something about this if it is confusing.

Hi Al.

Nice to know you've been keeping yourself busy. Very Happy For a while there I thought you'd forgotten all about us.

Sooo glad that 12 colonies have survived but also regret than you had to lose four hives because of the weather. Sad Will you be replacing the lost hives as they were a quarter of your stock? Hope the outlying colony have overwintered OK.

eileen, Embarassed My counting was a bit mixed up when I posted we had 12 colonies left. Question I suppose it was due to the happenings of the day. Crying or Very sad Kare was at a doctors appointment with her dad, Crying or Very sad I had just taken the dead hives apart and returned home from that to find the Sad cat we kept in the house had passed on. I knew Kare was going to be Sad Sad upset over that and we were supposed to leave for a bee conferance when she returned home.

Very Happy We still have 18 colonies left alive, Smile Smile We have 10 new queens on order, to divide 10 of the remaining hives. We also have 3 mimi colonies on order ( Smile paid for in fact.) that we will build into regular full sized hives.
Very Happy The bee conferance was great. Very Happy After 4 years of keeping bees I met the fellow who got me started over the internet. Very Happy We met a lot of new people and made many new friends. Laughing Laughing We also got leads on where to buy more bees of the strain we want, 50 colonies going intonext winter here we come.

Frank, the whole text thing runs together for me. I find it awful hard to read for that reason.
It is really so much easier to read when I am replying (topic review) since the lettering isn't so big they run together.

Very Happy Al

Al,

Is that cat that passed away the cat that liked to climb trees? She didn't look very old from the photos you posted.

Regarding the hard to read text I have made some very small design changes to the text but you may need to hit Ctrl+F5 on your keyboard to reload the site styles and images. If you see them (I have changed the pink links next to the avatar to smaller blue ones) then let me know what you think

No it wasn't the tree climbing cat.
The ctrl + f5 did nothing to help the looks.

We now have enough bees ordered and will start arriving April 24th till mid May to give us 32 colonies. I am still searching for some other dealers in a couple of other breeds we want to try.

Very Happy Al
