Frank - that is thick plexi-glass. My husband cut it with a jigsaw and then rounded the edges. It is fastened to the table from the bottom.

Ohhh man I want to go curb shopping too,, Norwegian never throw anything on the curb...(maybe its because its against the law up here,,,lol) dang Netty that was an awesome find. And you did a very nice job of bringing new life back to it!.. Well done! (i think it looks fine just as it it)
