The dward Hollyhock, Malva Zebrina, usually doesn't bloom until at least June. But with the really warm weather we have had this month it has been fooled into blooming early. There are four huge plants out back, these blooms are the first two and by early next week there should be a heck of a lot more of them.
For Christmas my eldest daughter, Lisa, gave me this mosiac pot. I found some copper rods for the hanger and finally found just the right plant. It is an orange colored Impatient. I couldn't decide which picture showed it offer better so I figured both would take care of it.

Very pretty blooms Toni. My malva has shown a few as well. But the lower leaves are getting pretty yellow. I am not sure if I should prune those back or just leave them.
Thanks for sharing one of my favorites!

Great pics Toni. I love the plant pot and the impatiens are beautiful. I really like the malva also, but since I've never seen them in this area I have to assume they're a southern thing. Thanks for sharing.

I love the pot. They show so much on HGTV now on how to do mosaic projects, that I just might have to give it a try. I've got some old tiles that I could smash up, and it seems like fun.

Very pretty Toni and I just love that planter!
Tschnath-those also grow here in Ontario (zone 5) so I'm sure they would grow there for you too.

Petunia, not a planter but it does resemble a Chia Pet doesn't it? It's a little Tiki-God head I found at a thrift store a while ago, just thought he could be the guardian of our front door

That pot is gorgeous...such a nice gift. I didn't realize that the zebra mallow was in the hollyhock family...this is one of my late blooming flowers in my garden in Wisconsin.I start them from seed in my flower beds in June...
