I'm looking for some ideas on to how to decorate my garden... Does anyone have any suggestions on a certain type of statue or maybe even a certain lining plant that works well??

I love creating and reusing "things" for in my garden (garden junque!). Here's a bear I made from chicken wire that's filled with spaghnum moss and sitting on an old stump (I also have a monkey hanging from a tree, Peter Rabbit, plus other wire sculptures). I have a more rustic taste and my garden reflects that. Not sure what your tastes are or what exactly you're looking for, but the possibilities are endless. Have fun decorating and designing.

Im not quite as creative as Kaseylib, but I've got an angel statue and some little frog things. I like frogs and over the years have been given some so I just put them in the garden. They've got some beautiful bird feeders these days as well. I have 2 in mine. Post us some pics when you decide what to do.

Thanks so much for your reply!! I love what you have shown in your picture and explained about the rest of your garden... Its all very clever... Maybe along the way I will go down that route but for now im just looking for basically something to put it in center of everything that doesn't stand out too much as well as maybe a nice flower to line it with so it doesn't just look so scattered! I really do appreciate anything you have to offer and understand that this might be something I have to figure out on my own... But I thought it was worth a try!!

One good rule of thumb is to pick an accessory color and use that color throughout your garden. Cobalt blue pots for example and you could even put in a birdbath in the same color or a totem. Or a wooden chair to plant up or a stepladder painted the same color for birdhouses. As kaseylib asked, knowing your style would help a lot. The most important part is to have fun.

Are there certain materials that are good for all types of weather? Cause I live in NY and the weather pattern are pretty erratic! I love the idea of the wooden chair but how would that do in rain and the heat? I mean that is if you even have any clue!! Thanks so much though Im def going to use that idea!!

If you paint it and maybe touch it up every spring, it should last 2 or 3 years. I have seen them used without a seat to let peonies grow up through them, or with chicken wire lined with sphagnum moss and filled with soil to plant in or just set a pot of flowers on it.

Sharon, you mentioned it is a good idea to pick an accessory color and use it throughout the garden. I never thought of that, and it really makes sense. I know you, and I think ZuZu have large Cobalt blue pots and items, and it looks very pretty. Mine is just a 'mish-mash' of whatever. I guess you would call it eclectic. That is just me, or so I thought. Maybe that is the reason, I'm not really satisfied with the results of my little make-shift garden spot. So thanks for the heads-up (even though it is too late for me).

Gaylyn, I have a lot of "mish-mash too, I use what I have, my blue pots were gifts and I would like to have several more. I have some different color totems in the yard, amber, green and cobalt, everything is not cohesive by a long shot. lol

Definitely do a search for "totems" onsite, there are some really lovely ones that can accent a very small place. There was a link awhile back to something more sturdy for bad-weather areas, you basically take a bowling ball, use strong adhesive to attach little toy lizards or bugs all over it, and spraypaint the whole thing in a soft metallic bronze, if I recall correctly. Sounds odd, but it was really pretty. And little gnome-houses are always appreciated by the smallest garden residents.

Wow all of this info is really helpful!! Thanks so much everyone for your help!! I found the perfect wooden chair its a beautiful color... I would say its magenta... Any good suggestions for a type of moss or anything else that might look nice if I let it grow up the chair??
