I thought for sure Mother Nature forgot about us up here in the Artic, or she had a ski pole stuck and couldn't get to us. Well she stomped her foot bigtime and broke the ice!!

Goodbye winter, hello Spring!!

The fjørd has finally started to break up. Take a look!

It not burmuda shorts and hawaiian shirts time, but the temps are definatly rising. The Artic is about to look like the tropics very, very soon. You'll see! I promise!!

I can tell you since I took the pics just a half hour ago, and looking out the window now,, the fjørd has broke up even more! I'll show another pic tomorrow.

In a few weeks time you'll never know that there was ever any ice on the fjørd Biita. Spring is definately in the air for you now. Stew Face 1

I'm so glad you get higher temperatures at last! I've always fund it a trifle annoying that the arctic has these fabulous beaches, but no sea temps to speak of. Laughing I'm not very tough when it comes to swimming in cold water. Below 18 deg C/64 deg F is too cold for me these days.

lol, droopy i know what you mean,, last yr the sea went to 24 C. ohhh it was so nice swimming. but it didn't last real long just a couple of weeks.

My very first yr here, it rained and rained and never got over 7 C. or 45 F. There was this Finnish family that stayed for a week and every morning the women would go swimming right out front where i took the pic. So i thought well maybe the water was warmer than the air temps,,,lol.. omg...i put my bathing suit on, got my towel, went down to the sea, stuck my big toe in, and watched it form ice crystals with in seconds.. That was my big swimming adventure for that yr. lol. the past yrs its been warmer, alot warmer than that first yr.

It rained this morning and I really didn't think I would make it down to the fjørd today. But the sun came out, and it warmed to a balmy 11 C.--52 F. So here are the pics 24 hours later after the first ice break.

Balder was walking on the ice when it broke thru,,lol. Boy did he run! You can see the ripples where he fell thru.

And some sun for all, thru the pines on the way home.

Turned out to be an excellent day I would say!!

What a difference a day makes where your weather is concerned. I really love the reflection in the 3rd picture, you should have a nice print made and frame that one it is a beautiful shot.

You've got a lovely landscape and gorgeous blues up there! Very Happy Poor Balder, I guess he doesn't like getting wet.

Thank you for enjoying the warm spring day with me.

Toni i have pics where the reflection from the mountain on the sea is so awesome you can't tell where the mountain starts and the sea ends. everyday it goes still for a few hours then the tide starts it pull again.

Balder is not a water dog. He will wade in it to get somewhere but he will not swim at all, in any water. lol.. he's so funny.

Nothing better than watching the ice break...I can relate! My dogs are down at the water everyday now, and it's hard to keep them out. So much for spring house cleaning!
