|
The area around our picnic table was dirt and some uneven flat rocks. Marton {BF} collected some more rocks and started to build a patio yesterday.
Heres a sorta before picture;
Thats actually more even than the part he was working on.
Heres what he has done;
Does he look tired to you?
Where his knee is, the edge of the patio is raised about 6 inches.
Everywhere you dig on my property is full of rocks. He laid them all out like a big puzzle to decide how to arrange them, then had to shore them up with smaler flat rocks underneath to make it level. The sand in between them is from the ditch on the other side of our house. The whole project $$$ FREE!

What a great patio. That's wonderful that you had all the supplies in your yard.

Free is the magic word. Marton is doing a great job. He does look tired, but I find any garden work is always a good tired. Looks great! Enjoy!

Well done, lovely result! It's so nice to be able to use what's already there, I like that too.

Wow!! Marton has done and excellent job! I know what you mean about yards and rocks, believe me i do...lol. The people next door to us got rid of square stones, we took them, if i need decorations, i have the yard and sea. Free is definately the way to go! Good use of the freebies.
I was going to say, you could of at least given poor poor Marton a glass of water before taking the pic, but i see he has done it up right,, he got a beer! Well done both of you!

Looks great and I can relate. We've hauled many, many tons of stone...fieldstone, lannonstone, brick... And we've got more to do this year. My back is aching at the thought of it! It's such a rewarding project though, and looks wonderful when finished!

This is from the yard facing the house. Where the shovel is, is how far out he wants to come, and then over to the left of the table to where the hill starts to go up.
See how he had to build up underneath to get the top level, its about 6" tall here.
heres from the front door looking at it, where he was sitting, and then from at the kitchen window.
And it rained all day yesterday and look! The sand stayed put!

Great new photos, I can imagine the back breaking work you've put in. The result is wonderful, though.

We like free! Lovely to have such great stones around your property, all I ever dig up are old house bricks!

Love it-- and the best part is that is was done by hand and molds to the land. Plenty of character there!
