Plans for Permanent Plants

Category: Garden Plans and New Ideas | Posted: Fri Oct 22, 2010 12:23 pm

Always fighting the crabgrass and other weeds in the Asparagus and Strawberries so this fall I am going to put down some black plastic, place cinder blocks around the edges and fill it with garden dirt and compost. I'll have to go 2 - 3 blocks high for the Asparagus but only one high for the Strawberries. Transplant them in their new beds. Hopefully this will make it easier and I think it will look nice also. Then I am going fill the holes in the blocks with soil and plant my onions and garlic in those. I can't wait to get started!

Can we have before and after photographs please? We do like to see what others are doing in their gardens. It all sounds very exciting so good luck.

Your plan sounds good, I have some places in the garden that I am considering the same treatment for. Tired of fighting the neverending battle of the weeds.

Yes, please progress photos would be great.
I have planted in the cinderblock holes too, they make handy planters for smaller plants.

Yes, I need to learn to post pictures. I read the "how to" but... well...I will have to get the husband to SHOW me how. I'm not very computer friendly. So as soon as that happens I will post some .
