Great Websites and Forums

Category: What I love about this website | Posted: Sat Jan 22, 2011 11:04 am

Not trying to sound corny, just a pleasurable thought from someone who spends much time gardening and rest on listening to music and researching internet....

I found this forum a few weeks back and am glad that I did. For years I've been looking for good gardening forums, and must say, found very few. I like the more popular one, Dave's Garden, simply for the info. But I don't think people should have to pay for more features. It's the internet, and I think information should be free.
Gardenweb has way too many pop-ups for me. I've gotten to where I cringe when Google sends a link to me heading towards them. It's become over commercialized.
Other forums I've found mean well, but don't have enough members to keep the posts and threads updated and alive.
This forum, like 'Goldilocks and the three bears,' has informative members, no pop-ups or overwhelming advertising, good gardening advice, and a plant database that is growing.
I know the few garden forums i visit will be informed of this one. To the author(s) of this site, 'good job!' I hope it's around for years and years to come.
Just my thoughts on an early Saturday morning.
Edit: My mention of 'Goldilocks and the three bears pertains to finding something that is 'Just right...' ;)

Thank you for the kind words Bodhi. I believe we have a really great bunch of people here: friendly, humble and knowledgeable. What more can you ask for :)

I do agree with you about GardenWeb. While it has great content the ads are very distracting. They got acquired by a big company a few years back, and the site has become over commerialised since then.

Dave's Garden also has great content, but as you said charging a subscription is an annoyance.

'Goldilocks and the three bears', shall have to remember that one :)

This Forum is Frank's baby and all the members do a fantastic job of helping that baby grow.

GardenWeb was fun when it was smaller and easier to wander through without all the commercials, I left there several years ago and started looking for another gardening forum and found GardenStew 5 yrs ago this month!!!
