I need a few answers

Category: Ed's Balcony Garden | Posted: Wed Dec 17, 2014 9:40 pm

Friends I bought this plant a week ago and not sure whats wrong with it.
The water level is ok and I give it sun light during the day and take care of it at night.
The leaves started falling off and now the red leaves.
Any help?
Sleep warm

Poinsettias like bright indirect light. Too much sun and warmth will cause the leaves to fall.
They also require cool temps 60-70 degrees is optimal for them with a little cooler at night. Don't let the leaves touch cold window glass and keep them out of drafts.

I have noticed that leaves can drop off when the air is too dry...also if they are a bit too moist.

Give them a little shower with a spray bottle, Ed. I agree with Sjoerd.....

Have a great holiday,

If the green leaves fell first, then the red, sounds like an old plant. Likely started well before sale time. Let it dry a little bit, with just a minimal amount of water. The leaves will continue to fall and you will have a bare stem plant for about a month. Then start watering as you are now and the plant will produce new leaves. Getting the blooms are another problem,, but you will have a nice green plant.
