Natural fertilizers?

Category: Are there any natural ways to fertilize houseplants? | Posted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 2:26 am

I was wondering if anyone knows of natural ways to fertilize houseplants. I have heard of coffee grounds and eggshells but I dont want to have strange smells in my house. Please help!

Neither coffee grounds nor eggshells should leave an odor. If you like you can put them in a blender with some water and use it as a tea.

I don't have any houseplants, but I would think that even if coffee grounds and egg shells did have an odor it would be better than the chemical fertilizers. Let them dry before you use them, less chance of them creating an odor that way.
I use coffee grounds, egg shells and left over herbs from shampoo making as a fertilizer outside all the time and by the time they are dried there is no odor at all.

I use cold tea as a fertilizer for my house plants and they seem to thrive on it. It leaves no odour behind and is certainly cheap and effective.

Thanks a lot you guys for your help. I am just a neat freak and I cant have any smells coming from anything unless its a good smell! Well I have just bought another houseplant and I am replanting it right now. Thanks again!
