Birds and more Misadventures

Category: Birds, squirrels and other misadventures | Posted: Fri Feb 02, 2007 2:14 pm

Well I decided to add this blog about my adventures with birds, squirrels and all other things that creep into the yard.

At this moment in time I seem to be fighting off a determined squirrel eating the homemade suet I put out. It is a secret recipe. I have added my hamster, Teddy's, special blend of dried nuts, fruits to the beef fat and birdseed. I doubt that there's another suet out there with hamster chow in it. The birds and squirrels adore it. My husband thinks it's quite nasty in the freezer but I try to pull it out as soon as it sets.

I make my own birdcakes too Birdnuts!! Once they've set in their containers I put them in the 'fridge to go hard. They seem to last just a little longer when they're put outside that way. Lovely to see you using our blog facility and WELCOME to our forums. Good luck with the squirrel - hope he moves on soon.

Welcome from West Tennessee. We are major birders and bird feeders here also. At this time of year we have counted 36 male cardinals at our feeders. Birds are just beautiful. I love bluejays too. We make suet and keep our feeders full. Our dogs help keep the squirrels on the run. Looking forward to your posts.

Gosh, with the feast you're laying out,
you can hardly blame a squirrel for being tempted. *LOL*

I'm looking forward to learning more about the critters visiting your yard.
