Category: Front garden make-over | Posted: Sat Sep 22, 2007 10:45 pm

Well, once again, Ian and I have been busy in the front garden.

Planters are in place......

......and getting ready for planting up.

Plants positioned to see how they look.

Planting finished!!

Now all I have to do is wait for the fetterbushes to arrive, plant them and enjoy the finished garden.

Great going you guys, I still really like the plum colour of the slate :)

Eileen, you still haven't told us what is planted in them. Not fair.

Sorry Sharon - I forgot in the excitement of actually getting some plants in the garden at last. LOL

I've planted an assortment of alpines in them and some herbs. Nothing fancy, rare or particularlly spectacular but they will spread and drape over the sides of the planters in time so I'm happy with them. I actually don't know the names of many of them as they were a bulk buy in Holland (144 @ only 50p each) but there are house leeks and lemon balm amongst them.

That is a very cool idea.

Did you build the shaper too?

No Barb I'm afraid we didn't make the planters ourselves but a friend of mine did.

Sounds lovely Eileen, looking forward to close ups when they fill in. I like the idea of low maintenance, especially at the front entrance, really neat and tidy.

Oh, please make those plants grow quickly so you can share them with us.

Dearest Eileen,
I am attempting to catch up this morning, while I enjoy your blog with my morning coffee. I love what you have done, and the border looks especially nice contrasting against the plum slate. Very pleasing to the eye.

Congratulations. This is an example of an attractive installation with contrasts in shapes, colors, textures and most important, minimal maintenance.
Could you recommend any site for insects, tropical for example?
