the 'blue' phase

Category: stuff in bloom | Posted: Tue Jun 05, 2007 10:45 pm

lets see....the tulips, daffodils, and grape hyacinth are all but gone...the alliums are just a- bout finished, the lilacs lasted about 5 days (in a few weeks, am going to have to heavily prune it) but...my first clematis is starting, big, beautiful dark blue flowers, that will turn light blue as they age. i bought a new one this year (my third, and it's white). the lupin buds were all white at the beginning of last week, and are now in full tilt. tons of buds on my oldest sea holly (got four new ones started this year all at the base of my clematis trellis). blanket flowers are starting to bud, the foxglove, and bellflower, too. all the transplants are doing well, especially after the great rain we've had the past couple of days.

It certainly sounds as though you have plenty blooms at the moment in your garden Annette. We'd love to see some photographs of them. I have a new sea holly in my garden but it's not very tall yet and there's no sign of buds. Maybe they don't like our Scottish weather!!!

It sounds so lovely, I'd love to see photos, too.

"Blue Phase" eh? :-)
Yep, I know what you mean, it seems that my garden
is predominantly one color or another
at any given time, and it's looking a bit blue here
at the moment, too . . .
lots of Stokes Aster and Verbena flowers,
with a few bright splashes of yellow,
mostly in the form of Coreopsis.

don't be so sure, eileen...the sea holly are supposed to be pretty durable, and tolerant of just about any conditions...but, time will tell.
some day, i'll get pictures developed, and see how i can get them on the computer (i know it can be done, but i can certainly ask my son to figure it out for me..lol)

I love blue flowers too Annette.
