Polar Bear Jump!

Category: Mangoman's Blog | Posted: Tue Feb 05, 2013 2:33 pm

Sunday, February 3rd was the 22nd year for the Lewes Polar Bear plunge for Special Olympics Delaware. The air temp was 36, water temp was 40. About 2,000 people jumped into the Atlantic Ocean at Rehoboth Beach around 1 pm. I will have to check on the final tally of funds that were raised. It was as usual a good time. I can't really describe the feeling you experience when one does this. Kinda like running a five mile race in twenty seconds. It's ok as long as the wind isn't blowing and the air temp. is not below freezing. Our local club jumps again on March 3 at the Cape Henlopen State Park. The number of jumpers goes from 2,000 down to maybe four. We're the crazy ones. Weather is supposed to get warmer. Peace.

Well I'm afraid to say that I'm too much of a wimp to do what you do. I salute anyone crazy enough to this type of thing for charity. Well done to all those who took part and all the best for March 3rd.
