I was heading to Yreka Ca this afternoon and thought id take my video camera dont know why i just had a feeling.When i pulled out of the driveway i only have to go a few yards to see Mt Shasta im about 5-6 miles away as the crow flies. I could see some lenticular clouds starting to form on the peak for those who dont know lenticular clouds only form at high altitudes Mt Shasta is 14,123 ft . But what i didnt know was as i traveled north on I-5 was a complete set of lenticulars just to the north which was unusual i have only seen them on the peak but i have only been living here a year so i thought id share the pics

WOW I've never seen clouds like that even over the mountains in the highlands of Scotland!! They are amazing. Thankyou for sharing such a wonderful natural phenomenon with us. Your 'feeling' certainly paid off didn't it?

they happen here several times a year i seen them probably 3 times last year i seen a local show and the scientist said it seem to happen more here in mount shasta than any place else i guess thats why we get some of the hippie ufo weirdos lol

Awesome photos!

The Seattle Times had photos of cloud formations like that over Mt. Rainier a time back.. I have been told they happen often here too, but have never been lucky enough to see them. When they sit in the mountain or above it they really do look like UFOs from the photos.
