Everything is Blooming

Category: Work in the garden | Posted: Thu Jul 19, 2007 1:33 am

The garden is going like gangbusters. The daylilies have hit midstream...only a few left to open for the first time this year.

This is the corner bed where most of the daylilies reside.

'Mighty Chestnut'
I really like this color. Its a dark rusty brown, not orange or red.

'Vanilla Fluff'
A taste of this fluffy confection anyone?

'Little Grapette' (I think)
And her next door neighbor 'Red Carpet Rose' is poking her nose in.

'Bridgeton Bazaar'

I have fallen under the spell of this daylily this summer.
It is called 'Nosferatu'.
To figure out how someone came up for the name of a flower is just about impossible I think, but this one really has me wondering. Its not scary. Not fanged. Not awful in anyway that makes me think 'Nosferatu', the bloodsucking vampire.

All I can figure is in the side view one petal is turned up on each flower...maybe like a turned collar on a vampire cape?

Lovely, lovely, lovely, did I say lovely.

Your Little Grapette looks more like Indian Giver to me

Indian Giver has been on my want list for a while.

Beautiful!~ I like Nosferatu....maybe it got the name because of it's deep *Blood* red color? I really like the little grapette too! I've never grown daylilies, but always get excited by the array of colors!
