A Morning Stroll.....

Category: Morning Hodgepodge | Posted: Tue Jun 05, 2007 7:38 pm

One of my favorite things to do each morning is to visit my little plants to see how they've changed overnight. I've planted a lot of my garden from seeds so this is quite exciting for me.

This is Anise Hyssop....from seed, it is the only seedling I got from my packet of seeds. I have a hard time being patient with perennials from seed and this little booger has taken quite awhile!

Here is my Bravado Echinacea....these are growing a bit faster...supposedly they flower within 4 months!

I planted lots of Grandpa Ott Morning Glories in my garden. I planted some near this big boxwood bush...I want them to use it as a trellis...I am happy to see that THIS little MG gets the picture:

I have several planted around this bush and a Giant Moonflower...they are making great progress weaving through the branches.

It is always especially gratifying to see a plant's first bloom...this is a Sundown Echinacea...I can already see the deep orange beginning to show:

Here are some pretty flowers that were just begging to be photographed:

A Star Jasmine

Nora Barlowe Columbine

My Gardenia Tree (this is the first bloom I've gotten)

and my other echinacea, it continues to open and look more beautiful each day:

This is a new plant (to me) called Angelonia, it's like a dainty snapdragon...I love it:

I decided to take my windchimes down and gussy them up just a bit. I rubber stamped them with silver leaves...I am testing the ink to make sure it will hold up, but I really love the look.

AND I found the large gems for finishing my crystal bowling ball....I should be ready to grout in the next day or so!

Have a great day!

Oh my favourites are the star jasmine and the gardenia as I really love white flowers!!! They always look soooo god beside all the brighter colours in the garden.

Has anybody/anything moved into Toad Hall by any chance?

Hi Eileen! I actually CAUGHT a toad to try to get him to live there...he stayed awhile, but then when I checked in on him he decided he'd had enough of ME! I'm afraid to look now just in case he came back! He was a really handsome fella too, deep dark brown with brick red bumps.

Those are beautiful blooms. I really love that Gardenia...it looks just like a Rose.
I had the same trouble starting Anise Hyssop for a few years. Last year I finally got blooms and this year the volunteers are taking over the garden!

I have the Sundown Echinacea, it is lovely. Is your toad house in the shade, they love damp shady places.

Hi Cajunbelle! Partly shade, it is under a tree....I just moved it into a shadier spot. My DH says that I am liable to scare away prospective toads with the frog prince up top....I just thought it was a great place for him!

Hi, I love all your flowers! they are so pretty. The toad house is really awesome. I have one that lives under my deck. He hops out on the patio to see me sometime. I always go out everymorning to see what is going on in the garden too. ;~)

Thanks Jo! The toad house was a gift from my MIL, she got it at a craft fair, it's made from painted terra cotta pots. I have a lot of lizards around the garden who greet me. One will let me handfeed him--poor guy was maimed by one of my cats (he came on the patio and got caught), and now has a limp.

Mmmm, I can nearly smell that Gardenia!
Mine aren't blooming yet, but soon . . . :-D

*LOL* about trying to install the toad in "Toad Hall",
I hope he sees it your way and moves in,
my toad abode was full of slugs last time I looked, YUK!

Such cute little seedlings you have.
Your patience will be well rewarded. :^)
