Nov. 20, 2005 - I'm Ready!

Category: Daily life. | Posted: Sun Nov 20, 2005 7:28 pm

I have about 5 cords of firewood under cover for this winter. And today I got the snow blower mounted on the tractor. I had to take the mower deck off, changed to a lighter grade of oil in the tractor for winter. Mounted the blower and all of it's brackets etc. Put chains on the rear tires and mounted the 50 pound wheel weights on the rear tires. The blower is 45 inches wide and will through the snow about 75 foot. My lane is 1/4 mile long and there is a cut in it where the snow always drifts in. The banks on the side of the cut are about 6 ft. high, so have to have something to get the snow out. With this rig, I make one trip to the end of the lane and one trip back and I am done! Here are a couple of pics of the rig.

Since we don't have much snow, we just wait for it to melt. I'm very happy not to need equipment like that. It was about 65 degs. today.

What a mean machine! We don't have snow here, but I'm sure I could modify it for lawns!
How often during winter do you need to use it?

Some years I don't get to use it at all. Just the threat of it seem's to keep the snow level down. Last winter I think I used it about 4 times. With a 1/4 mile lane I can't afford to not have it setting there ready to go.
