Category: Daily life. | Posted: Fri Jan 13, 2006 9:14 pm There hasn't been much going on the past week. Unseasonably warm temps. and more rain than we have needed. Today I had to make 50 lbs. of cole slaw for our American Legion Fish Fry on Sat. Boy am I ever glad that is done. 3 hrs. of standing and I am feeling it in my arthritic knees and my left hip that I had replaced a year ago. But it is feeling better since taking some Tylenol. I'm just wondering Capt... when you have to make that much coleslaw does it affect your appetite for it?
The kind I have to make, I don't really care for the taste of it. It has cabbage, carrots, celery, onions and green peppers. The sauce for it is made of vinegar, celery seeds, mustard seeds, salt, and sugar. You mix it all up and then it has to "brew" for 24 hrs. It's quite sour tasting to me. Now what I make here at home is just cabbage & Carrots and the sauce is made of a little vinegar and sugar and a little milk. It is much sweeter tasting. Login or register to leave a comment. |
