Hart State Park in Hartwell Georgia, USA
Category: Holiday in 2005 | Posted: Sat Oct 15, 2005 1:03 pm We went to Georgia to visit friends that we have known since 1969. They were participating in a volunteer program as Hosts at the Park Campground. This first pice is of the Park Ranger's Office.
This next one is the entry way into the park area itself.
This is one of the picnic areas, there is also a small swimming beach and is used by people who are there just for one day of activities.
Here is one of the camping areas.
The lake was made from damming up a river. The lake is huge, over 95,000 acres of water. This is a set of steps going to the top of the dam area.
This is a service road on the top of the dam. The dark area to the left is the part of the dam where they can control the level of the lake. The water coming out of there forms the Savannah River which flows clear to the coast in the south to Savannah, Georgia.
This is a picture of part of the bigger section of the lake.
As you can see, the lake is so huge, you can barely see the far side. And that far side is actually in the state of South Carolina.
