My son got a new Hewlett Packard computer last week. He got the Media Center with a 300 gig hard drive. I also found out that the Seagate Co. has come out with a 750 gig hard drive but is not in mass production yet. I inherited my son's old computer, which is a year newer than my old one, with a bigger hard drive and a lot faster. I had trouple getting my HP printer to install on it and was emailing back and forth to HP Support for 2 days. Finally got it to work. Then I went to use my HP scanner and it wouldn't work. So again I was working with support and I finally got it to work. Only took 8 hrs. for it! But HP Support was really great in helping me with both of them. They would not give up trying.

300 GB hard drive, makes the 40 GB on my laptop seem tiny :(

With the printer, the problem was that it was made before windows XP came out. I had to download an XP compatible software and driver from their web site and had problems getting it to install. The scanner would load the software but would not launch the scanner. So I totally removed all of the scanner software from the computer and disconnected the scanner. I then installed it by the directions as if it came straight from the box. I used the software that came with it and it loaded right in and launched itself. I am slowly becoming a computer expert, but by the time I am really knowledgable about them, they will be obsolete!

Installing hardware has always been a pain. I can't wait for a time when all of this is trivial.

Thank goodness for the HP helpline!! I've had to call them a few times too and they've always been great. As you say they don't give up trying. So glad you've got everything up and running.
