I'm terribly excited

Category: Ramblings | Posted: Tue Nov 06, 2007 5:00 pm

Yesterday I was told I'm to be a Granny again around May 22d. I'm really looking forward to a new baby to cuddle, but it's early days yet. Only 11 weeks. I saw the ultrasound pictures today, the tiny thing is nearly 4 cm long. My little finger is longer.

The soon-to-be big sister was ecstatic when told. No wonder! She's been sneaking up to prams to admire babies for years, and have told the proud parents how she longs for a sibling.

Her parents tried to make her understand what she'll be to the new baby, and they hinted and coaxed her to say it herself. "When the baby comes, what does that make you then? What will you be?" She was really thinking hard, then suddenly her face lit up in a big, wide grin and answered: "I'll be HAPPY!"

She refused to attend kinder garten today, because she wanted to stay at home with mommy and the tummy. Yes, she said that. In Norwegian, of course. I'm predicting a very long, impatient wait for her.

Me, I've just ordered some baby alpacca yarn. I want to knit a blanket.

What fun having a new little one to cuddle and spoil rotten.
Big Sis will have a hard time waiting until May, how old is she?

Don't forget to show us pictures of the baby blanket you knit.

I am so green with envy. there is nothing better than "a baby (sigh)" I am on pins to be a grandmother. My oldest is 23 and hasn't dated in a year. I am a first time new great aunt of a baby boy (Aug. 8, 07) and I blessed to keep him and steal kisses weekly. Keep me drooling with updates. Enjoy the anticipation. I'm tingly and green. Great news thanks for sharing.

Big sister will be six in March. The blanket I'm thinking of knitting is just off-white forwards-and-back boring, but it will be very soft and warm, if only I get my baby alpaca yarn.

My first grandchild arrived when I was too busy to enjoy her properly, so this time around will hopefully be better. Diamonds, if you have to wait, you have to wait. Borrow the neighbourhoods' babies occasionally, I bet some mothers would enjoy an unexpected rest.

Wow,, Congratulations droopy!! I have 2 grandchildren myself, the oldest is 2 and her sister is 8 months. I know how excited you are. Mine will be here next summer to live, so i can hardly wait until the whole family gets here. Enjoy every moment, coz as we all know they grow so fast. Now i'm green with envy, you know how to knit,,,lol.

How wonderful it is to be a grand parent. Just to hear that little voice call out "hi Grampa" and come running up for a hug. Then to have two doing it, Wow. Our second is 4 months old, and just to get that heart warming smile when he sees us. What a wonder. Congrats!

Best Wishes to all! We are so happy for you, and I would love to see the blanket when you are done. . . an heirloom to pass down through the generations!

Congratulation Droopy. It is nice to have another one on the way.I just wish I was near mine so I could enjoy them a little more than once or twice a year.I want to see your blanket as soon as you finish it please.

Thank you everybody.

I'm lucky to have them close by, I know! I still feel I get to see them too seldom anyway. We're all busy with our everyday lives. I haven't gotten confirmation on my yarn yet. I'll have to see how thick it is before I decide what to knit from it. I'm not in the mood for fancy knitting, but that might easily change...

I am happy for you...a new grandchild....

I am sure the big sister will enjoy the baby once it arrives as much as now. The excitement and the words that come out of the young are so precious...

The little darlings have made my day more than once by what they say while speaking to each other. We try and remember, but we should have written everything down.
