The activity of the season

Category: Ramblings | Posted: Sat Dec 29, 2007 10:28 am

Christmas time is a busy time, no matter how careful one tries to be. I do not like stress, or running about to get things ready at the last minute. We're trying to get all the presents done before December, and spend the weeks before Christmas wrapping, writing cards, tidying, decorating, baking and avoiding shops as much as we can.

With nine people on Christmas Eve and the same for Christmas Day, there is bound to be a flurry of activity the days before. The joy of family gathering and eating too much makes it worth it though. Everything went well, the presents were great, but we're left with far too much food. Again.

The days after Christmas but before New Year are called romjul, friends and family use the days off to visit, the cookies are nearly gone (well done!) and my head feels like it's stuffed with cotton. I've ran out of things to talk about, my brain is in a hibernation mode and I just feel like hiding in my bed for a couple of days to recharge.

Well, who cares! It's Christmas once a year, and I'm going to enjoy it fully no matter what! So there.

So here I am, with sand in my eyes, trying to locate the hoover and the mop, looking forward to today's visits, munching a cookie and desperately reading up on the news to be able to make intelligent conversation. I know I'm not the only one, and that is a very comforting thought.

The same thing is going on here, i get about an hour if that of computer time, then maybe very late at night. But its all worth it. Today and tomorrow we visit some of the ones who have been visiting us so far, so no relaxing here, yet. My vaccum has gotten more mileage in the past few weeks than all year. But you summed it up perfectly, Who cares, its only once a year. I'm looking forward to this weekend, i get to sit and eat something with out having to jump up an take care of everyone while i eat. lol. just another week to go.

HO HO HO and ditto! I hope to get our tree down today and get some cleaning done on my 4-day weekend. Enjoy this time of year with your friends and family.

I have three more days off now and since Christmas is past I have no big plans to occupy my time. Since I was small it was tradition to put together a large jigsaw puzzle on New Year's eve. We continued it after I got married. The boys all helped as did friends who came over. Now, it's just myself as dr doesn't care for it too much. I don't have one for this year but it's still a day or two and there's time. dooley

Wauw...I hear that! It's ben so wild that I am really tired of it all and I am just going to take it completely easy now until things get back to normal. My ears are still ringing from all that loud talking at christmas time.
One way that I can totally relax is coming on here and settling down with a nice cuppa and indulge myself with my co-gardnening posters. Ahhhhhhhhh... nice, very nice.

Even with all the goings-on, it's still a lovely time of year. I'm hoping to miss out on today's socializing, I'm plain tired and would like to do a jigsaw puzzle with dooley. Tomorrow is the big day of noise, then it's all over for now.

Droopy, I understand how you feel, but mine is due to work, I work in the retail grocery business, in the meat department I am exhausted and am glad to have today and tomorrow off. The only problem is in the food business it never slows down. I agree with you, I would love to help Dooley put her puzzle together.
