Where the days are spent

Category: Pets and other animals | Posted: Fri Feb 15, 2008 7:17 pm

This week we've had winter holidays, and my horse minders have gone off in search of snow to play in. So the girls and I have packed some food and drink and spent the days here:

It does look drab and cheerless without the inhabitants, doesn't it? Well, they were enjoying themselves outside, of course:

My two furry friends were pleased to see us, but they would have been more pleased if we had carried their hay nets.

This is Truls, he's mine:

And this is Gabriella. She belongs to the girls, and is just the kind of pony I wanted when I was a little girl:

I could have shown photos of the surroundings too, but truth be told the greyish hues depressed me, so that will have to wait. The riding hall had two big machines in it, so I'm giving that a miss for now too.

At least now you know where I'm at when I'm out and about enjoying everything Mother Nature feels like throwing my way. I thought I spotted some gills behind Truls's ears the other day - might be a sign of something.

Looks like great facilities for your furry friends. What's a "gill", Droopy? I hope it means spring's on its way!!!

Oh Droopy...oi am well chuffed innit! Heh heh heh. It is really good of you to have taken and shown these piccies. They give a pretty good idea of the set-up there, The inside looks nice and tidy, not somber at all.
Your horses look very handsome.
It's better not to show everything at once, it'll give us something to look forward to. Heh heh.
I can see that in the summer everything around there is lovely and green. BTW.. when you ride these proud steeds, where do you ride? Are there fields or roads there to use?
What all do you actually do with the horses in a day? Like feeding, grooming, exercising and so forth. Do they have annual medical check-ups, or do they only have to be seen by a vet if something is wrong?
Tell us more while we wait for the season to change and more pictures to come. Ok?

Kaseylib, a gill is what the fish use for breathing under water. We've had lots of rain and very little snow this winter. ;)

Sjoerd, we're all over the place. Roads, paths, one field, riding course, and soon the hall. Lots of room around there.

Glendann, you're welcome.

'Gills' I like your humour Droopy :) I'd love to hear a sort of annual event calendar of one your horses one day. What's it like to be a horse in Norway?

Thanks!

Frank, I think mine will tell you that they're fairly spoiled, and will complain about not getting to run about often enough. I'm considering getting hold of a woman who claims she can talk to the horses, and then I'll get to hear what they think straight from the horses' mouths, so to speak.

One of those 'horse whisperers'? You stables aare beautiful - I should actually call it living quarters. You have lovely animals. I am envious

Thanks Palm Tree. I do like them, they are nice personalities, both of them. They certainly keep me busy.
