The times they are a-changing

Category: Garden | Posted: Sat Jun 28, 2008 9:39 pm

I looked at the border overview photos from this spring, laughed, and ran outside to get some new ones. Just look at this:

Big border to the west:

The most eastward western border:

The big border to the east:

Got some blooms here and there too.

Edelweiss bud:

Ligularia przewalski. We use it as a summer hedge:

Lilium hansonii has started:

Those Oenothera have really big blooms for such small plants:

Busy bee:

Sempervivum flower. I find them pretty:

Maybe more blooms will come since it's beginning to heat up again outside.

Hello Droopy thanks for sending these beautiful photos! WOW!!!! Everything is so very beautiful. Your gardens are so very plush and interesting. Really enjoyed seeing you all your beautiful plants and flowers! Your extensive knowleadge of plants really pays off. I see so many unique plants that I have never seen before. Thanks! Kathy

What a difference a few months make Droopy. Everything in your garden looks so lush and healthy. You have some really beautiful flowers. I have never seen so many hostas together without any sign of slug damage!!

Thanks a lot, you guys. *blush* The problem is I can't see what's where on the overviews any more. *lol* I really need to expand my border space. Oh, I put the wrong "before"-photo in too, sorry about that. We've got slug damage, and lots of it if we add up, but thankfully there are so many different hostas out there so I guess the slugs are spoilt for choice.

What a metamorphosis, Droopy! Your borders have really done quite well, haven't they. I 'spekt that you are well chuffed with them.
That Sempervivum flower is quite enchanting.
I am pretty happy that you showed these before and after fotos because they rerally demonstrate the degree of change a few months can make.
Well done, you.

Thanks Sjoerd. I'd be happier if they bloomed properly, since I find the masses of greenery boring. They will of course bloom eventually, I'm just being impatient.

Wow

That is just beautiful.
A major transformation from the snow to the green.

You are quite the gardener.

Wow! I love the way you have placed the stones. The lilium is beautiful!

Thanks all for rejoicing with me. It's good to see things grow, and not so good to see how big some of the plants get. *lol* The stones were placed as a necessity. We had to dig a new drainage ditch to the north and west of the house, and those stones turned up. Since they were far too big to move, the digger placed them in a row, and we used smaller ones to divide the border into sections.

Biita, if you're planning a midnight walk, June to mid-August is the best time for it. Before and after, we'll have to use torches.
