Snake!!

I walked out the door the other day to see this little critter scurry accross the walk. Rather than shriek and run away, I instantly thought, 'I've gotta get my camera!'




(I should have made the pic smaller, but it was such a clear pic)

WOW!! What superb shots Redrose. Do you know what kind of snake it is?

My daughter has a Wesern Hog Nose Python which was only the size of a large worm when she bought it. Now it's two feet in length and seems to enjoy being handled - it's a beautifully marked snake as is the one you captured with your camera.

That looks like a King Snake.
If it is they are great to have around your house and in your yard.They kill poisonous snakes.

Tell you the truth, I'm not quite sure what kind of snake he was. Perhaps a garter snake. He was just a little thing, a little gardener snake looking for the garden I don't yet have. :)

He does look like a garter snake redrose. We have them here although they seem to be getting rather rare these days.

Weird enough

Other reptiles are fine. I used to have chameleons as pets when I was a kid. But was always a bit scared of snakes.

We have many snakes here. It looks large in the picture. The last one I found in my yard was a rattlesnake. My son came and hauled it away in a jar. He gave it to a friend who took it out in the hills are released it. I don't mind snakes as long as there are not poisonous. Then, I freak. dooley
