I am new, I have never blogged before, I love your enteries here and hope to contribute often.
My hobbies are gardening, knitting and reading. I retired the first of Aug 07 from owning a yarn shop in North GA.
I have recently started working with hypertufa, mosiacs and digital photography. I guess I am looking for some latent talent in one of these areas.
Check back often and visit with me when you have a chance. Thanks
Debra

Welcome to GardenStew Debra, congrats on your new blog and I'll be reading! I'm sure you have some yarns to tell about your yarn adventures ;)

Welcome Debra. oooohhh, to own a yarn shop and have all that lucious yarn at your disposal. I'm afraid I would be taking home more yarn than profits while owning a yarn stop

Welcome! I used to be an avid handspinner and have way too much yarn stashed up, lol! I wish you a wonderful retirement and many happy hours gardening.

Thank you all so much. I STILL have a store full of yarn. lol. My retirement was abrupt, due to my DH declining health. Heart problems, we have good days and bad days.
Yes a yarn shop is not a way to get rich, but I met a lot of wonderful creative people and learned a lot myself. I look forward to chatting with all of you.

Welcome. I am most interested in all those things. I am wanting to take up knitting this winter. I hear there is going to be a new knitting show on PBS soon.

Thanks Ethie,
Knitting can be the most relaxing, mindless hobby or a real challenge, depending on your project. I usually have 3-5 projects to suit my moods.
Talk to the closest yarn shop to you, they usually have beginner classes. Also check out knittinghelp.com, it has short and excellent videos along with written directions.

Where are you in Texas? I was born in Pampa (north Tx)and spent most of my life in Houston. Six generations of my family are from Conroe, Kilgore,Navasota, Bryan, etc. My brother and father and their families live in Fairfield, about 35mi S of Dallas. My neices all ride barrels all over the region.

Congrats on your blog and I'll be checking back for more. I live in East Texas, about 90 miles from Glenda. I know where Pampa is. I use to work for Celanese Chemical and they had a plant there. I have relatives all over Houston! Welcome to the stew. Hope your DH health improves.
