Blue Hues of the Artic

Category: Artic Living | Posted: Sun Jan 06, 2008 7:04 pm

I was out today just walking around the farm an had my camera with me. I just kept thinking how odd it is here with no snow an the blue time is on us already. We finally have the light but it isn't very bright because of the lack of snow. The only thing we have had in the way of light is 2 grass fires here on the island of Vestvagøy. Usually it is so bright out there an everything is just washed in every shade of blue you can think of. I took these pics at 2:00 pm this afternoon, an you would think it was the dark time not the blue time,,, but the sky speaks for it all.

Our sauna, against the sky

Peeking out of the pines at the view of the mountains, even the mountains are blue.

Behind the barn

The fjørd finally making its ice to cover it all over for the winter.

Again peeking out of the trees

The sea an break front for the boat area

If we ever get some snow, the scenes will be very different, much bluer in shades. I'll take pics then too. The colors are too rich to pass up.

Yes I'd love to see the same areas covered in snow Biita. Thanks for posting.

Beautiful blues you have in the blue time.
Now remember exactly where you were standing when you took these pictures and take more when the sun comes up...or when you get snow...or both. :)

It is good to see things there where you live. "The Blue Time". That has such a mysterious ring to it. The picturtes are mysterious. I certainally am curious what the effect would be if there was lots of snow. You always post such good stuff.

Biita your pictures are lovely. Blue is an all time favourite colour of mine. The second photograph is worthy of framing and hanging on a wall. I look forward to seeing many more of your piccies - especially if you have snow.

Thank you,, if we ever do get some snow, those pictures would be very light, an all kinds of shades of blue. Actually as i was taking them it was very light out, i won't say bright, but it was light... thats what this time does to the light around here. the sun is still below our horizon line an the blues are the result. Now if i could just get a little snow,,,,,

Wow - great pictures.
That is intense - the blue.
To think that you also have "blue" mountains - reminds me of the Caribbean and the blue mountains there. Though it is a total contrast in climate.
