useful gardening hobby

Category: outdoor gardening - pond | Posted: Sat Dec 01, 2007 7:03 pm

Hello gardening fans!

My name is Gila and I live in Israel. One of my main hobbies is gardening. I love flowers, trees, vegetable and herbs in my garden.

I'm a holistic naturopath and In the last 3 years, after finishing my studies, I converted my garden to an organic garden. So I'm trying to grow eatable and useful plants.

I have in my garden Herbs like Mint, lemon grass, oregano, parsley, basil, and much more.

On the flowers side I grow pansy, nasturtium, geranium (lemon type) - all eatable leaf and flowers.

To complete the natural and holistic environment, I added a Pond with waterfalls. The fish in the ponds and the sound of the water are very relaxing and adding calmness and peaceful to my garden.

In my previous house I had a quarter of an acre backyard, so I had more room for a bigger fish pond. Since I liked it very nuch, I found a way to do it in a smaller yard.

In my next post I'll tel you how?

Hi Gila it's lovely to have you here at GardenStew and I hope you'll introduce yourself to out members so that they can get to know you.

I've been an organic gardener for around thirty years now and I have a 10 foot round pond for the wildlife that vsits my garden. I look forward to hearing all about your pond.

Welcome, Gila! I don't think our tiny little lot has even room for a small fishpond. I'd still like to hear how you do it!

I had room at our other home for a pond but I was always worried I would attract more snakes than we had. For me to see a snake in the water would not be relaxing...it would make my heart beat faster and faster and faster...get the picture...I don't like snakes..lol

I love looking at everyones ponds and I hope you can post a picture real soon. I will just be using my bird bath to attract the birds to my yard now...

It sounds like fun Gila. I will look forward to reading your blog. I wish I had the space for a fish pond. As a compromise between me and the non-gardening family members, I had to concede space to a water feature - a SWIMMING POOL.
