Meeting the Balcony Garden
Category: My Balcony Garden | Posted: Sun May 04, 2008 5:29 am As the first post of my blog, I wanted to simply introduce the plants that I have so far and how they're doing.
Mini Rose #1 is a red variety that I have had a lot of trouble with, but is turning out to be very resilient. I got her around October 2007 and nearly killed her before she finally found a home on my balcony. She probably quadrupled in size before I nearly killed her about a month or so ago. I accidentally used a contaminated watering can on her and mold took over before I realized it. I cut off nearly all of her leaves and she is now rebounding nicely.
Mini Rose #2 is a yellow variety that I bought when I was upset with the mold on Mini #1. She is still getting some yellowing on her leaves and her flowers aren't quite as full as I would expect. I've still only had her a few weeks.
My English Ivy was also nearly killed through transplanting and stress, but is doing nicely now. I also added a second type of English Ivy to the pot to help fill it out. A run of the mill pothos sits out there just because it was cheap and I wanted something I could bring indoors and keep alive.
My African Violet sits out there now since that is the only sun she seems to not wilt in. I got her for my birthday in February and after she got done flowering in March, things went downhill. She is down to 7 leaves, but they are all firm and I have repotted her for better drainage. Last edited: Mon May 05, 2008 11:02 pm This blog entry has been viewed 46 times
