Too bad I can't do a rain dance...
Category: Miscellaneous garden notes and what-have-yous | Posted: Thu Aug 28, 2008 2:45 pm I haven't been to the Stew in a while. It's been a VERY busy time lately. I am a college student and went back to school last week, plus work, church, volunteering, keeping house, etc. All these things leave little time for gardening. We need rain here in Southwestern Indiana, and boy are my garden and flower bed showing it! I have to water, water, water and sometimes it still seems like things are looking a little blah. Lots of leaves turning brown on my tomato plants, but the toms still seem to be turning, which is good. I used up all the romas that were ready on Tuesday by making some tomato pasta sauce. The hubby and I will be enjoying some spaghetti with sauce made from scratch this evening! We've made the sauce before, but considering the tomatoes and herbs were from our own garden this time and are completely organic, I can only imagine that it will taste even better! I looked outside last night, and can tell I will have even more tomatoes to pick when I get home from class today. Luckily I have lots of friends and family to share with, because with the hubby not liking tomatoes, there is no way I could eat them all by myself! Pictures of the garden, harvests, beagle, etc. to come as soon as we can get our camera fixed! Hope everyone is having a good end of summer and your gardens are doing well! Looking forward to the photos DRayBurn :)
My husband doesn't care for tomatoes either unless they are in sauce or ketsup.
I've got rain here, come and get it. *lol* Good luck with making tomato sauce from your very own crops, sounds delicious.
I only ripened 10 tomatoes, but they sure tasted good.
