Just a few of my finds at the thrift store

Category: A few of my thrift store finds in the past few weeks | Posted: Mon Jan 29, 2007 9:09 pm

I drop by the thrift store and yard sales often.
The wire tea kettle I love but not sure what I will do with it yet any sugestions.

This next one is a picture of a large globe and a bird feeder

I also found this old rustic bird house I fell in love with.

This is the bird cage I plan to plant a climbing plant in.

Another talented junker here. I envy those who can recycle with such ingenuity.

Great finds Glenda, you could get some spagnum moss, WalMart has it, to line the teapot, fill with dirt and plant, you could even get a hanger for it to make it into a hanging planter.

*pout* not very many garage sales around here this time of year. Then again, I'm trying to get together stuff to sell at my own gs to raise money for my son's trip.

I love the tea kettle and the birdhouse!!! The bird cage is going to look fantastic when you put a climbing plant in it. That does it I MUST go to more garage sales - soon.

Sharon gave you my idea for the teapot, that will look really pretty with a hanging plant of some sort.
I have been looking for a bird cage too, I did find a 5 foot tall Parrot cage but that was a bit too big.

You can take that glass globe, some colored half marbles and either Liquid Nails or Gorilla Glue. Glue the half marbles on in whatever design you like. You could leave a couple of inches around one end of covered, stick that end down into the ground, fill with dirt and plant in it....or cover the whole thing, glue it to a pretty plate and use it inside or outside with a plant.
You can't have too many birdhouses and birdfeeders.

Cool finds, Glenda.
I'll be looking forward to seeing them all done up
and added to your gardens this coming season.

Thanks everyone.I have now glued the globe on top of
the totem I'm working on.I have been working on for 2 months.I had that in mind when i bought it but would have bought it anyway. It was a quarter.couldn't pass it up.

Much better than the stuff I bought at the flea market. But, a man gave me three ceramic ducks and a woman gave me two teddy bears. I bought a cookbook and a chinese bowl. DR bought a chimney cleaner. We'll have to take a picture so you can see how it works. Dooley

I can't wait for the garage sales to get in full swing again!! I love your teapot! I would also suggest a hanging basket for it!! I can't wait to see your finished totem!! You have put alot of thought and work into it's making!!

I adore that wire kettle. Good thing you don't live close by.

glendann wrote on Tue Jan 30, 2007 7:08 pm:

The handles fold over Bethie
and will make a perfect place for hanging .I think it was a bread holder.I'm not really sure.

Ah, the teapot is screaming for a plant. Perhaps a boxwood which can be pruned to the shape of the teapot? Have you seen the prices of those wire cage animals? WOW!

Great finds!
