My Sunday Off

Category: Family and Everyday Life | Posted: Mon Feb 12, 2007 5:21 am

I have every Sunday off, but have been working them for the overtime. I was very tired today so I stayed home, and will do the same tomorrow, although my boss wants me to go in. Bubba, our big cat we raised on a bottle, is sick and has to go to the vet tomorrow. After church today Richard and I went to Sonic for lunch. We wanted to go to the flea market but had too much to do at home. We got back and watched the Victory Garden, then I marinated and injected the chicken for supper. We went outside and started working on weeding a flower bed. Got most of it done, but it was still wet. Tomorrow I am going to dig the cannas out bc they are taking over. I have to move some of the daylilies around and plant my gladioli. I will then fill in with some of the annual seed I am starting. I have so much to do in the yard, I think I have too much and may need to cut back or start mulching heavier. The weeds are so bad here. I have wild strawberry that came from somewhere over the winter and has taken over one end of a flower bed. It is really thick. Oh well, enough ramblings for today.

Sounds like you got a lot done in your yard.My Cannas are planted alond a wash at the edge of my big frot yard.
They will stop the wash and the dirt will fill in .My cousin taught me that .If you have a place like that in your yard plant them there the wetter the better.
I worked today so I'm really tired.Hope Bubba is ok and nothing bad wrong .keep us informed about him.

I hope everything goes well at the vet's for Bubba Sharon.
What a pity you didn't get to the flea market but it certainly sounds as though you used your time constructively in the garden.

Canna's love wet feet. I always used them in ponds. And in the water, they don't seem to get those leaf eating critters.

Thanks for the info on the leaf rollers Jan. I had them bad last year. I am going to dust early this year and I have some I am moving. I will throw some of them in the ditch and see how they do.
