praying mantis
Category: my bug encounters | Posted: Fri Aug 11, 2006 2:52 am Maybe not the best photo, but this was creeping about whats left of the silverado sage out front. When I was watering I noticed it move, and it was enjoying this big water droplet and smoothed it across its buggy head like a cat cleaning its face with a paw. That's something I wish I had on viedo. It's still wearing a bead of water.

I love these guys, so alien-like. I used to draw comic strips when I was a kid and I remember one character I created was a superhero preying mantis :) He had a side kick as well but I don't remember what he was lol
Well caught. I think it's an excellent photograph Prairiefeather.
Fabulous photo!!! How wonderful the critters in our gardens are.
I like these too. One time when DR's mom went to clean his brother's room, it was full of them. His brother had found an egg case and brought it home. It hatched. Dooley
To think we live so far apart and the common mantis over here looks exactly like this one. A nice photo for sure. We enjoy the small creatures. I have some small folk on my aloes blog if you are interested. I hope to find more on your blogs.
