Adding sound to a garden with a garden fountain

Category: Controling the sound of a garden | Posted: Wed Feb 25, 2009 7:43 pm

There are many methods to modify the "sound" of your garden. I would like to hear ideas from others on how to do this.

My ideas are:

1. planting plants to attract birds. http://learningstore.uwex.edu/pdf/G1609.pdf (good info about how to do this here. It is slow to load though, so make sure your internet connection is fast enough.)

2. adding a garden fountain like for flowing water sound http://www.gofountains.com/ A blog about fountains.

3. adding wind chimes http://www.arkansascityks.gov/index.aspx?NID=975 (You need to scroll down on this page a little to find the chimes I'm talking about.)

The simplest is, of course to add wind chimes, but my favorite way is to install a garden fountain.

Planting plants to attract birds works well too as long as you do your research and figure out what type of birds the plants might attract.

Your sounds seem to be more relaxing than the ones we've got. *lol* We can hardly hear the birds since the girls make a lot of noise out there. I like the sound of water, and we're trying to add a water feature. Maybe this year.

Water does really draw the birds and other critters in. The birds are really noisy some days that they can drown out the neighborhood noises.

I love the idea of a fountain, but am finding I am not very good with maintence, lazy.. still that would be wonderful to have.
