Category: What inspires you to buy flowers? | Posted: Sun Mar 08, 2009 8:35 pm

I am looking to find out from everyone and anyone what inspires you to purchase flowers? Where do you buy them and why? What would you like to see in a garden department.

I am very curious because currently I am not inspired and I want to hear what others look for.

Flowers are just beautiful. When I buy bulbs or seeds I like seeing that new little flower come up out of something small and into beautiful color.
I guess what I would like to see in a garden department is more house plants sold during the winter time. As I love to make new plants from my existing plants during the winter.

It depends on the season. In spring I just want colour, and lots of it so I buy marigolds, lobelia, sweet williams and alyssums to plump up the borders. When spring mania has died down I look for plants that go well with the ones I've already got.

Flower buying for me is impulse and/or memories. Usually they are attached to plants, but daffadils are just because the smell so good and are the essence of spring for me. Seeing the pansies with a covering of snow at the garden center encouraged me to pick some up for a planter by the back door. Both my husband and I enjoy seeing them on our way in and out of the house.
