Today, a Spotted Towhee

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Thu Apr 09, 2009 4:42 pm

Hi Jewell. The answer to the Varied Thrush is yes, we saw it as it made its call as you mentioned. The Spotted Towhee is rather shy but tends to stay longer after a few visits. At first it would just take a seed and leave, it was rather hard to get a decent picture. Now however it hangs about a lot more.

You have some exotic birds (well to me anyway) visiting you Kildale. The red eye of the Towhee really stands out against the black head feathers.

Yes the eye is so different.
It does match the feathers.
How lucky you are.

You must be a bird "whisperer". You certainly get close, clear pics!

Thanks for the answer on the thrush. They sound off a dawn and all my husband or I have ever been able to see is a silhouette of the noisy one.

if its eyes are red it means its crossed over to the darkside!

hehe, j/p...

you get some good shots, im sure you must have some nice cameras and lenses if you are into birds like you are.
