Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Wed Dec 04, 2013 5:17 am

This is Cladina Pacifica, Pacific reindeer lichen. It grows among the mosses and lichens that cover the rocks.

Is there a Reindeer Moss too? If not I've been mistaking this for a moss for years. I told you that you were teaching me something new all the time Kildale!!

Eileen, according to Google it says: Reindeer moss is not a moss; it is lichen which is a combination of fungus and algae sharing a symbiotic relationship and forming a new plant.
