Downy Woodpecker.

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Mon Jan 11, 2010 7:25 am

I've had five woodpeckers visit the garden and this downy is one. The flicker hasn't been around for a while to the feeders but I have seen them in the garden.

Is the Downy Woodpecker a snmall bird Kildale? We have Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers in the UK that are about the size of a large sparrow and look somewhat similar to your bird.

Downies where I am (although there might be a little regional variation) are about 6 inches (aproximately 15 cm).
