We have a few of these stay for the winter, strange birds, hard to photograph black, like white is, hard to get the details.

I think you caught the details of the coot really well Kildale.
These are amusing little birds to watch. When their young hatch they always make me smile as they are just soooo unattractive compared to their parents.
