Mandarin duck

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:11 pm

Hi. Eileen, I took a picture of a manderin duck in the UK, at Great Ayton in Yorkshire, it was on a river and I was really amazed with that one too.

Aren't they just THE most beautiful little waterfowl? I once painted a picture of one for a friend and I just couldn't do it the justice it deserved. If I find the painting I'll let you see my efforts at capturing the wonderful colours and shapes that this duck sports.

I dream of having Mandarin ducks in my pond on my farm. All I have to do first is find a farm and make a duck pond. I never tire of looking at those lovelies.

Incredibly beautiful. We were looking through our binos at a bunch of woodies once and there was a Mandarin with them. Escaped from captiviy for sure but what a sight that was with those other beauties.
